The First-Time Homebuyer Credit was a bribe, and I succumbed.
I bought a house in June 2009. Though I knew at the time it was a bad idea, I didn't know why, and I did it anyway. Now I understand why it was a bad idea.
- I wanted to take advantage of low housing prices.
- I wanted the $8,000 First Time Homebuyer Credit.
Both of those reasons are greed, a desire for more money than I needed. Ensnared by this greed, I eagerly accepted a bribe, and I troubled my household. We've been miserable in that house for three years.

Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.
